The tanks will be installed in the next hydrogen buses built by MCV in Egypt
With Hexagon Purus, MCV has signed the next supplier for its hydrogen buses. The company had already ordered fuel cell modules for its buses from Ballard in early March. The tanks will be supplied by Hexagon Purus, specifically by the supplier's German plant in Kassel. According to a press release, this is MCV's first order with Hexagon Purus. Delivery of the storage systems is planned for this year.
MCV's fuel cell buses with Ballard and Hexagon Purus technology onboard will be used in EU projects. The partners did not elaborate on the end customers and locations of the future H2 buses. MCV is known in Germany and Europe primarily for its cooperation with Volvo and in the zero-emission sector for the C127 EV electric city bus.
"We continue to experience strong commercial momentum for hydrogen transit buses as more bus manufacturers introduce fuel cell electric bus offerings to support the decarbonization of public transport in several key markets," said Michael Kleschinski, Executive Vice President of Hydrogen Mobility and Infrastructure at Hexagon Purus. "We are very pleased to receive this first order from MCV and look forward to supporting their efforts in rolling out their hydrogen offering in Europe."
