Rebus operates 52 hydrogen city buses in Rostock and Güstrow.
Germany is growing in the number of zero-emission fuel cell buses and Rebus launched this hydrogen-powered fleet with Ballard technology. Two refuelling stations have also been installed in Güstrow and Rostock.
The Urbino 12 integrates Ballard's 70 kW FCmove®-HD rooftop fuel cell engine, and the bus is already in service on routes in other German locations, including Cologne, Munich and Hamburg. Ballard's 100 kW FCmove®-HD+ module powers Solaris' Urbino 18 and, in addition to Güstrow, is currently in operation in Aschaffenburg, Bavaria.
The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Technology (BMDV) has funded the implementation of the zero-emission vehicle fleet with almost 18 million euros within the framework of the "Guideline for the financing of alternative propulsion systems for buses in passenger transport", while the district of Rostock has also contributed 7.8 million euros towards the costs of the vehicles. The total investment of the various partners in the initiative amounts to around 40 million euros.
Rebus is responsible for public transport in the entire administrative district of Rostock and covers around nine million kilometres annually with its fleet of 180 vehicles spread across 82 regional and urban lines.
