More economical operation of buses thanks to fuel savings.
Numerous bus operators around the world are already enjoying the advantages of the DIWA NXT automatic transmission system from Voith, especially for intercity and regional services. With its first mild hybrid transmission from the DIWA product family, the technology group is bridging the gap between diesel-only vehicles and those with alternative drive systems.
The DIWA NXT automatic transmission enables substantial fuel consumption reductions even over long distances and at high speeds. Depending on the type of terrain covered, a mild hybrid bus ensures fuel savings of up to 16% thanks to its central CRU. The integrated secondary retarder allows most braking operations to be carried out wear-free, which also considerably reduces the load on the service brake.
Another advantage of the DIWA NXT transmission comes into play in mountainous terrain, as even for buses with a high gross weight, steep gradients are no obstacle thanks to the Voith drive concept. For example, buses weighing around 19 tonnes can easily overcome gradients of 12% in second gear, making them significantly more efficient than buses with conventional drive systems.
In combination, these qualities mean that vehicles with DIWA NXT offer particularly high flexibility of use and demonstrate their high efficiency in both intercity and urban traffic.
