Zenobē, the UK-based fleet electrification specialist, and Brampton Transit have announced a CA$4 billion initiative to fully electrify the city’s bus fleet. This multi-phase project will deliver over 1,000 electric buses—sourced from Canadian OEMs—and stands as one of the largest single zero-emission bus programs in North America.
With more than 40 million annual passengers and a rapidly growing population, Brampton is emerging as a national leader in sustainable urban mobility. The first phase of electrification infrastructure will go live in early 2027, backed by planning, engineering, and capital from both Canadian and UK partners including TD Securities and Zenobē.
This project exemplifies cross-border collaboration, pairing Canadian manufacturing with UK expertise in financing and fleet deployment. It also brings over CA$1 billion in foreign investment into Canada and is expected to support 5,000 jobs across both countries.
The collaboration will span technical planning, battery storage, software, and depot optimization, using Zenobē’s experience in delivering over 120 electric depots globally. The company’s end-to-end model—combining funding, infrastructure, and fleet management—will help Brampton build a scalable, clean public transport system.
Officials from both governments have praised the initiative as a model for future international partnerships on climate action and smart infrastructure.
