Established in 2002, Srivasavi Adhesive Tapes caters mainly to the bus segment in India. Exports making up to 20 per cent of its total business, its flagship product is the double-sided foam tape. Srivasavi offers adhesive solutions in die-cut, fine-line tapes and aluminium foil specifically for the automotive industry.
Mr. Aneel D.N., Srivasavi MD, said: “We manufacture industrial speciality self-adhesive tapes at two of our facilities in Bangalore, built on a total area of 60,000 sq ft. We have end-to-end manufacturing facilities and offer in-house weaving also for fabric-based tapes. We are also capable of die-cutting, where we can manufacture custom-made die-cuts of film, fabric and foam tapes. Besides, we have an in-house adhesive facility where we make adhesives for our use as well.”
Srivasavi offers solutions for bus HVAC insulations, foam-related cushioning, gas cutting and masking. “We can work with cloth, foam, film, fabric and foil for different usages – it all depends on the usage,” Mr. Aneel shared.
“We cater to commercial vehicles, cars and two-wheelers segments also. For trucks, currently, we are offering only surface protection solutions.”
The Indian automotive industry, especially the bus segment, has undergone a major makeover in the last few years. It is not enough anymore to offer basic necessities or follow safety standards. Mr. Aneel shared: “In the last five years, the bus industry has become more aware of the luxuriousness of services, more comfort, and aesthetics. With the increasing comfort levels, which are both being demanded and offered, expectations are also rising, and exactly because of this reason, our products are also in greater demand.”
Srivasavi approaches bus body manufacturers to offer a bouquet of solutions, which Mr. Aneel recounted: “If the requirement is to have multiple colours of painting for the bus body, our masking tapes come into the picture. When it comes to the air-conditioning systems and related activities, our HVAC-related products are available. We have specific products for reducing noise, too.”
Currently, Mr. Aneel said the market is on an upward trend, and it is a good sign that there are more players entering the segment, creating a positive competitive ambience. He is confident of the USP of Srivasavi, which is offering ‘customised solutions’ to its customers. He shared: “We have a pan-India presence of marketing and sales people. We have covered major cities in our service network.”
Srivasavi is planning to open an overseas office in the Middle East by the end of this year to serve the UAE and African markets closely. The company has been exporting to 17 countries for the last seven years. Mr. Aneel added: “Right now our team is 120 people strong. Our exports are mainly to Asian countries and the UAE, besides some parts of Europe. For the markets in Germany and Brazil, we offer custom-made products as per the specifications of the customers there.”
Srivasavi Adhesive Tapes has a facility dedicated to creating custom orders using a variety of materials. With its own adhesive formulation and coating facilities, the company can meet the strict standards of its clients, thanks to the latest technology adopted and the advanced machinery used.
