HARTING has announced the launch of its new Han-Modular® 100A Single Module Protected, a touch-safe version of its popular 100A single module designed to enhance the safety and reliability of high-power battery connections, particularly in electric vehicles such as electric buses.
As the adoption of electric buses grows globally, so does the need for robust, safe, and efficient systems that handle high-capacity energy storage. The new Han-Modular® 100A Single Module Protected addresses a critical need in battery management by providing an added layer of contact protection.
The previous version of the Han® 100A single module lacked contact protection on the male side, which could present a safety risk when connecting or disconnecting power sources in battery-powered systems. The newly designed version, however, is equipped with a plastic attachment at the tip of the contact, ensuring that users are protected from electric shocks during maintenance or when interfacing with the battery systems.
This improvement is particularly crucial for electric buses, where energy is often sourced from battery storage systems. Even after power is turned off from the mains, residual current can still flow, making it essential to have proper contact protection during routine plug-ins and unplugging.
The new Han-Modular® 100A Single Module Protected retains full compatibility with existing socket modules, such as part number 09 14 001 3131, ensuring that it can be seamlessly integrated into existing setups. This means that operators of electric buses and other electric vehicles can easily upgrade their systems for improved safety without overhauling their entire infrastructure.
The Han-Modular® Docking Frame is another key feature, allowing for blind mating—a process where connections can be made without the need for visible contact, further enhancing ease of use and safety during the connection process.
