HARTING expands high current capability with new Han S 450 Plus connector for advanced energy storage
HARTING has introduced the Han S 450 Plus, a next generation high voltage connector for energy storage systems that raises current carrying capacity to 500 A. This upgrade addresses the demand for faster charging and discharging cycles in modern high power ESS architectures, including mobility and industrial storage environments.
The Han S series is engineered for compact layouts and minimal heat generation at high loads. Its angled cable housings and freely rotating 360 degree input interface enable flexible routing and dense module stacking, supporting scalable battery configurations.
The 450 Plus variant features enlarged contacts and housings designed to prevent thermal buildup during continuous high current operation. Three conductor cross section options are available:
for 95 square millimeters up to 350 A
for 120 square millimeters up to 400 A
for 150 square millimeters up to 450 A

The connector is certified up to 450 A and 2000 VDC. In lab testing, the 150 square millimeter variant demonstrated stable performance at 500 A and 2000 VDC, positioning the series at the top of the market for current density.
The Han S platform maintains robust operational parameters, including 500 guaranteed mating cycles, intuitive locking, red and black polarity coding, and additional blue and orange options. Double locking, multiple coding choices and five mating profiles reinforce safety and mis mating protection.
