
ZF Group has announced the sale of its passenger car Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) business to Harman International, a US based leader in in cabin electronics. The agreed enterprise value of the transaction is €1.5 billion. Completion is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected in the second half of 2026.
The transaction includes ZF’s ADAS portfolio for passenger vehicles, covering compute platforms, smart camera systems, radar technologies, and ADAS software functions. Electronics for chassis systems and passive safety technologies will remain within ZF. The company also confirmed it will continue its activities in driver assistance and autonomous driving for commercial vehicles.
According to ZF CEO Mathias Miedreich, the sale represents a key milestone in the group’s strategic realignment. By divesting the passenger car ADAS business, ZF aims to focus investment and resources on its core areas, including chassis technology, powertrain systems, commercial vehicles, and industrial applications.

For Harman, the acquisition strengthens its position in cross domain automotive electronics by combining ADAS capabilities with in cabin systems, connectivity, and software. The combined portfolio is intended to support both integrated and modular solutions tailored to OEM strategies across global markets.
ZF stated that the proceeds from the transaction will be used primarily to reduce financial liabilities and support long term competitiveness. As part of the agreement, approximately 3,750 employees are expected to transfer from ZF to Harman upon closing.
ZF’s continued commitment to driver assistance and autonomous driving in the commercial vehicle segment is of particular relevance for bus and coach manufacturers, as ADAS and automated functions increasingly form part of safety and efficiency strategies in public transport and heavy duty applications.
