
Würth Elektronik has introduced a new heat sink portfolio designed to improve thermal management in power electronics and electronic components, with applications relevant to electric and electronically intensive vehicle platforms.
The range is divided into three product groups. The WE-HTO series targets THT-TO packages such as TO-220 and TO-247, commonly used in power electronics. The WE-HIC series includes finned heat sinks for flat-surface components such as CPUs and DC/DC converters. Pre-coated variants, WE-HTOI and WE-HICI, integrate thermal interface material at the factory, eliminating air gaps between components and heat sinks to improve heat transfer efficiency.
Thermal management in electric and electronic vehicle systems
In electric buses and modern vehicle architectures, thermal management plays a critical role in maintaining the performance and lifespan of components such as converters, control units and onboard electronics. Efficient heat dissipation helps prevent overheating, ensuring stable operation and reducing failure risks.
The new portfolio addresses different installation conditions. WE-HIC heat sinks are available with continuous fins for applications where airflow direction is defined, and with interrupted fins for environments where airflow is less predictable. This flexibility supports integration across varied system layouts.

Design flexibility and integration support
The WE-HTO heat sinks are offered in multiple geometries and surface structures, including curved designs and finned variants that increase surface area for improved heat dissipation. Mounting accessories such as screws, nuts and insulating sleeves are also available to support integration into electronic assemblies.
Würth Elektronik complements the hardware offering with engineering support, including thermal simulations, detailed performance data and options for customer-specific modifications. This enables system designers to optimize cooling performance based on specific application requirements.
The heat sinks are available from stock without minimum order quantities, with samples provided on request.
