Würth Elektronik has introduced the WE-SFIA series of SMT flat wire inductors developed for automotive power electronics and high current vehicle applications.
The new inductor family is available in 2010, 2013 and 2016 package sizes and is designed for use in DC/DC converters, battery management systems, motor controls and infotainment applications. According to the company, the components support saturation currents of up to 150 A and operate within a temperature range from -40°C to +180°C.

The WE-SFIA series uses flat wire winding technology, which improves current carrying capability while reducing DC resistance and thermal losses. Compared to conventional round wire designs, flat wire configurations also improve heat dissipation and mechanical robustness in high vibration automotive environments.
Würth Elektronik states that the optimized core material improves magnetic saturation performance while supporting compact and energy efficient system designs. The components are intended for single and multiphase converter architectures, including buck and boost converter applications in electric and electronic vehicle systems.
The inductors are currently available in values ranging from 0.33 µH to 4.7 µH, with additional variants available for customer specific applications.
The launch reflects continued demand for compact high efficiency electronic components supporting electrification, energy management and high power vehicle electronics architectures.
