Würth Elektronik has expanded its WL-SFTW SMT Full-color TOP LED Waterclear series with new RGB LEDs in PLCC4 2121, PLCC4 3528, and PLCC6 3528 formats. These additions are designed to perform reliably in extreme temperature environments, withstanding conditions from –40 °C to +100 °C—significantly beyond the 85 °C ceiling typical of LEDs in industrial use.

This increased thermal tolerance opens the door to new application areas. Beyond industrial and automation systems, the LEDs are well-suited for outdoor and street lighting, stage and event equipment, medical devices, and machine or server room installations—contexts where stable light performance and high durability are essential.

All new variants are equipped with a Waterclear lens for sharp, vibrant color output and accurate rendering. The design also includes silver-plated solder pads and robust PLCC housings, enhancing solderability and resilience against thermal stress during manufacturing.

The LEDs offer high luminous efficacy with lower power consumption, delivering up to 15% greater efficiency compared to other LEDs operating in elevated temperatures. Combined with the extended operating range and long service life, these components respond to the growing demand for durable and energy-efficient lighting systems in technically demanding settings.

All formats in the extended WL-SFTW series are available from stock without minimum order requirements.
