Lazzerini has introduced the Re-Compact seat, a seating solution manufactured entirely from recycled plastic, developed for transport applications with a focus on circular material use.
The seat is produced using a recycled polymer compound developed in collaboration with NEXTCHEM. Through NX Replast™ technology, post-consumer plastics are chemically treated, purified, and mechanically upcycled into a material with properties comparable to virgin polymers. The resulting compound is designed to meet performance requirements related to strength, durability, and surface quality.

The Re-Compact seat integrates this material into a design that addresses structural, ergonomic, and safety requirements typical of public transport seating systems. The product is intended for long service life and is designed to re-enter the production cycle, supporting multi-cycle reuse strategies.
In addition, the seat surfaces are treated with a photocatalytic coating based on PURETI technology. When exposed to light, the treatment contributes to the breakdown of pollutants and microorganisms on the surface.
The product was presented during Milano Design Week 2026 as part of the “The New State of Materials” exhibition, illustrating the transformation of post-consumer plastic into functional transport components.
