Konvekta AG has been awarded the Busworld Europe 2025 Innovation Label for neXwork — an intelligent CO₂ climate network that redefines thermal management in electric buses. The system combines digital connectivity, energy recovery, and sustainable refrigerant technology to deliver greater efficiency, comfort, and reliability for operators.
At the core of neXwork lies a fully networked heat-pump system that uses the natural refrigerant CO₂ (GWP 1, PFAS-free). By recovering heat from the ambient air and from components such as the axles, inverters, and the battery, neXwork can reduce total energy consumption by up to 57 percent. This increase in efficiency directly extends vehicle range and eliminates the need for electric auxiliary heaters, cutting both operating costs and environmental impact.

The system integrates patented technologies such as dynamic refrigerant charge balancing, which transfers refrigerant between the heating and cooling loops to maximize performance in all conditions. A key element is the in-house-developed LeadControl software platform, which continuously monitors vehicle data — temperature, air quality, and battery status — to optimize thermal conditions in real time. It also ensures cybersecurity compliance with ISO/SAE 21434 and UNECE R155 standards, supports J1939 communication, and enables remote maintenance through UDS diagnostics.
Vehicle manufacturers can fine-tune the system through more than 500 adjustable parameters, tailoring it precisely to different operating profiles. Modules like Energy Collect capture waste heat from the drivetrain, while battery temperature control ensures optimal charging safety and longevity. Together, these functions form a cohesive energy-saving network that enhances comfort and durability across every route and season.

With more than 10 000 CO₂ heat-pump systems already operating in cities such as Berlin, Zurich, and Brussels, Konvekta brings proven field experience to the next generation of electric buses. The neXwork platform builds on this foundation to deliver measurable savings — up to 21 000 kWh and about €3 000 per bus annually — while maintaining a strong focus on safety and sustainability.
Konvekta’s Innovation Label win at Busworld Europe highlights not only a technological milestone but also a vision for future-proof, climate-friendly mobility in public transport.
