Global battery leader CATL has launched Tectrans, its latest line of battery systems, at the IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover. This innovative system, which includes a specialized model for electric coaches, is designed to meet the demands of long-distance transport, offering an energy density of up to 175 Wh/kg and an advanced thermal management system that ensures performance in extreme conditions.
The Tectrans line offers two models for heavy trucks: an ultra-fast charging model, which allows a 70% recharge in just 15 minutes, and a long-life version, with a durability of up to 15 years or 2.8 million kilometers, ideal for high-intensity operations. Both versions are part of CATL's commitment to reduce emissions to zero across its entire supply chain by 2035.
Akin Li, Executive Chairman of CATL Overseas Business, highlighted the reliability of these batteries in extreme climates, from +45°C in desert regions to -35°C in Arctic areas, demonstrating the scope and capacity of this technology to drive the global transition to sustainable transport. With the launch of Tectrans, CATL is advancing the electrification of commercial vehicles, consolidating its leadership position in innovation and sustainability in the electric mobility industry.
