A transatlantic collaboration is driving innovation in American mobility.
BMZ Group and Kiepe Electric have announced a strategic partnership aimed at boosting the electrification of public transportation in the United States. This joint initiative brings together engineering teams from the U.S. and Poland to create a vehicle-specific solution tailored to King County Metro’s requirements—serving Seattle and 34 surrounding cities.
"We have customized our MAGNUS+ battery to facilitate its use in the Kiepe-specific offering in the United States," said Paweł Kępski, Director of Business Unit EV at BMZ Poland. "This great team effort translated into a unique solution for new-build buses as well as a drop-in replacement for retrofit applications."
The project represents a key step in BMZ’s strategy to expand its footprint in the U.S. e-mobility sector. As Kai Schöffler, Managing Director of BMZ US Inc., noted, "BMZ’s field service-proven model is expected to deliver synergies in the heavy-duty vehicle electrification business for our North American customers."
Pilot buses equipped with this advanced battery and power system are already in operation across Washington and California. According to Klaus Peter Canavan, Managing Director of Kiepe Electric Corp., "Pilot projects that we ran in several U.S. cities demonstrated the flexibility and enhanced performance of the power kit."
This solution, adaptable for both new buses and retrofits, is a milestone in sustainable mobility. It reflects the two companies' deep commitment to clean transport innovation and reinforces their roles as technology leaders in the global shift to zero-emission transit.
